hi, im kind of new to atot. I was just wondering how much PCs will change in the next 10 yrs.

Will the internet have near 0 response time? will micorsoft and intel have total controll?

I think CPUs will be about 100ghz and every new computer will be sold attached with a fridge.

Please post your thoughts !

I would imagine something 100x as powerful as we're using now.

Doesn't technology progress exponentially?

PC's will hover a few feet above the ground and will be smaller than a toaster. Also, they'll shoot stuff

Dell will be driven into the ground and HP-Compaq will rule the PC world (hopefully...I hate Dell :Disgust;)

Every 18 months, it doubles or so? Forget the name of the guy who said that...

Remember last May or so, when Athlon 1.4's were all the talk?

The man was Moore. What will be interesting to see is how far silicon will go. Somehow, the idea of quantum computers getting into the hands of consumers seems less likely than unrestricted DVD recorders. The NSA and the RIAA lawyers and such will kill anything really good. Still 100 gHz sounds possible. Some kind of Pocket PC with 10 times the ability of todays desktops too.

I really hope than in 10 years TFT screens will cost no more than CRTs now. That's my biggest hope.

If CPU's are going to be 50 times hotter than the hottest running CPU's we have today, and if the cooling failed it's going to be like a desktop chernobyl.

Computer chips will be implanted into one's nervous system and we will all be cyborgs.

More likely, computers will be integrated into all household items and they will all come in i-mac colors.:p
