What kind of Computer would you build with $350

A Bitchin' PC XT w/ all the bells and whistles.

Well, if you gave me $350 that's what I'd build you...

😉

Seriously, Dell w/ Rebate + Coupon would probably be good. Or I'd personally go w/ a combo MB+Video+Sound and a P4 or XP CPU of the cheapest variety, and look for a deal on RAM/CASE/HDD. Probably would take a few weeks to stretch it out. If you need it all at once then DELL.

Biostar KM400 board, Mobile 2400+, and 512mg of PC3200 ram

Cheap and fast

If gaming...
Shuttle MN31N boarde, Mobile 2400+, and 2 X 256mg PC3200 ram

Personally, I'm working on building a very small system that boots off a 512mb cf card, so I'd use $350 towards an EPIA ITX board, CF->IDE converter, a DC->DC Converter + power brick, and built a very small enclosure for it out of aluminum.

But that's not really what you meant when you asked the question, so buy a Dell.

i'd never buy a dell for my own personal use 🙂

but what are ya gunna do with it? dell is going to be the best bang fer your buck

The only game I play is Counter-Strike. I dont do anything major with the PC... I have a P4 2.4ghz Dell right now but I want a AMD.

Hit the tubby wallet forums and search for "outlet"...find the "dell factory outlet c-pons" thread. Should find a $50-$75 off the Dell refurbs. You can easily get a Dimension 2400 or sometimes the 4800's for under $300.

I cant seem to find a Dell deal right now... That is why I was going to settle on building my own.

If you've already got a 2.4gig p4, why are you buying a new computer? For $350 I'd buy a Ati 9800/pro/xt, and your computer would be great.

You could get a decent AMD system, 2500+. Looking for all the components or do you have any you can reuse? Monitor?

save your money chi. if the only reason you want a new rig is to go amd, you'll be dissapointed at the lack of performance increase you'll get w/ $350.
