What Kind of Case Do I have?

I'm building a budget system for my wife. I have an old HP P133 that I may strip for some parts. Since all I need is a cheap case, I'm wondering if the HP is an ATX. How do I tell? I've been to a few FAQ sites but uts not that clear to me. Is the type printed on the case somewhere (life can't be that simple).

Check some of the sites where they sell cases, look at the back view of several atx boxes. Also look to see if the psu has a 10x2(20pin) motherboard connector. If it has the right connector and looks like the back of other atx cases, it should work. There may be some issues with the switch/led wiring, too.

There were some proprietary motherboard designs of that vintage, so be sure of a match on the i/o configuration.

if it is ATX, then the serial and printer ports will be sodlered to the motherboard, not attached with cables. Also, the Power Supply connector foir the mobo will be one large plug instead of two smaller plugs.

Ripped the guts out. It is 2 smaller plugs. Guess I'll go buy a cheapie.

This project is more fun than my dream machine. Wondering just how cheap a Duron 900 system can be if you really try <g>.

It is worth the $30 you spend on a new case. Even if it is a cheap generic case, it will be much better than anything that OEMs use You may be able to recycle the power supply if it is an ATX one (and 300W at least, which I highly doubt...).
