What kind of cable.......?

This may sound like a stupid question but I have yet to find the right answer.

What kind of cable do I need to connect an external parallel port ZIP drive to the parallel port on my computer?

At first I thought that any DB25 parallel cable would work but so far nothing has worked and nobody has had the right answer for me. I know I can get one from Iomega but that's too easy and expensive. Help!!!

Just use any standard bi-directional parrallel cable used commonly by printers. If ur gonna buy one, just ask the guy for a "parrallel printer cable", he'll know what ur talking about.

You're going to want a standard IEEE 1284 bidirectional cable with DB25 male connectors on both ends. Don't get a printer cable; those have the large printer connectors on one end (you'll be hard pressed to fit one of those onto the back of a parallel disk device 🙂 ).

Okay, thanks dudes. I think I know why the cable I had wouldn't work. My laptop seems to be malfuntioning. I hooked it up to my desktop and everything is a-ok.
