What kind of cable is this?

Looks like an IDE cable with some sort of breakout connector.

Yup. That way you typically don't have to move the drive-select pin on your Floppy.

Yup. We old.

Fun fact: You had to put the disk for that twisted connector in upside down or your data would come out backwards. It was a strange time.
