Ugly Bug

My wife found it on our stairs, our dog was sniffing at it... she thought it was a bean or something, so she picked it up and squeezed it but it was kind of soft - then she screamed and threw it - she said some little legs came out. So I don't know if she didn't see them at first or if they're retractable...

I've never seen something like that.

Oh ya, tick baby!!

EDIT: Ya, when it's real big like that, that means it's full.........

EDIT2: Read up! - Chances are if you found one, your dog could have a couple more on him/her. If you think it's nasty, wait till you have to pull one out. They don't come out easy, especially when they're full.

Definitely not my dog... we would have seen it pretty quickly with it being that big... must have been my long haired cat.

I thought ticks at least had heads, this thing is like a jelly been with feet. :Q

The head is probably still buried in your pet's flesh.

Well, they can carry it, but the chance that this tick had it is pretty low.

I can't believe you've never seen a full tick. Anyway, just pop it. The fact that you found it on the ground means that the tick has gourged itself enough and is now ready lay eggs - they'll drop off by themselves at that point. :p

The little legs and pinches are still moving on this thing though - I have it secured in a ziplock bag for further analysis.

We're already using that. It's about time for another dose, but I'm wonder how the tick was able to stay on my cat long enough to get that big, without dying first.

It's not that I've never seen a tick, I've just never seen that kind of tick, it's completely oval with a few tiny dangly legs and pinchers.
