basically my problem is this: my Adidas cross trainers don't provide enough support for when doing physical stuff and my steel toe work boots are to heavy to clomp around in for 10+ hours. I'd like something that can be my primary, do whatever footwear.

looking for something that:
doesn't require polishing
somewhat water resistant(should be able to walk through a little wet grass with getting wet socks)
reasonable weight
must be comfortable enough to wear for 12+ hours at a time
reasonable ankle support/protection
cost less than 100 bucks
a side zip design would be nice if its a tall boot.
they should have comfortable toes for when I'm working on my knees(yes is know what that sounds like, but i work back room retail and spend a lot of time kneeling on a concrete floor pricing)

edit: spell checked for spelling nazi's

I've been wearing Timberland hiking boots for at least 10 years. Most people think when they hear the word "BOOT", they automatically think "uncomfortable.
Many of Timberland boots to me are DAMN ugly, but some of the hiking boots are decent looking. Here are the ones they have at the moment.......
Timberland Hiking Boots

Here are the ones I wear and are suited for anything and are very comfortable (I have 2x pair) One pair is over a year old.
HERE

They are $110.00 but they'll last you longer than most crap out there.

EDIT: one more thing......... If you really are going for all around Timberland boot for whatever the surface, make sure they have the label B.S.F.P.? on them!

This is a softer rubber which provides more cushioning and traction than the non BSFP!

I work in a warehouse and I wear these. They are very comfortable. The boots are not steel toe either.

For one, the Doc Martens are practically slippers and ugly as hell!
2--- The Wolverines are cheap azz (soled) Talk about non-flexiblity. Maybe if you work construction and you're on a Dozer or Loader all day, fine. If you're walking or standing most of the day, look for something better like the timberland.

I think maybe the OP was looking for a variety of choices, not just one persons narrow minded view.

After deciding that laces were for suckers, I went and bought a pair of these

Comfortable as crap, inexpensive (I think I paid $45) and long wearing. Look decent with khakis or jeans.

Voted a Sluggo all around Best Buy ;)

Have you tried Crocs? They wear out too quickly, they're not warm enough, they don't have enough arch support, they have little room for socks, they're ugly as hell, and they're the best shoes I've ever owned. I have wide, high feet with poor circulation, so good shoes are very hard to come by for me. I wear mine in all kinds of environments and temperatures, indoors and out. Just try them on and walk around for a few minutes- you might very well be glad you did. Be careful when the sole starts to wear, though- they get slick.

I like my Magnum Phantom V-Lite 6" Side Zip boots. More comfortable than my New Balances. (They're under Tactical boots - they also have Work boots.)
I got them from Lawmen's for $80.
