Bought it as a kit, used on Craigslist.
Came with the 28-135 USM IS, and a 18-55

Original digital rebel (300D?) with kit lens, lightly used (less than 500 shots fired).
40D, body only, also lightly used (~1000 shutter actuations).

I bought my Rebel XSi with the 18-55mm IS kit lens also. Still using it as I haven't been able to justify the $$$ to step up to a better normal zoom... yet. :D

Bought a D90 with 18-105 kit lens. Also bought 70-300 lens at same time to take advantage of a deal. Purchased a 2 month old used 105 macro later.

Canon 300D w/ kit
Pentax K7 w/ 18-55WR kit + 50-200WR

The WR lenses are very average, but the discount + rebate at the time was very nice. I have used them in the rain, so the WR is useful. I really need some $$$ for some DA* and DA ltd glass.

Got the Pentax K-x 2 lens kit with 18-55 & 55-300 lenses. The 18-55 is the classic "good for a kit lens", but the 55-300 is a real standout in terms of IQ to $$ ratio.

Rebel T1i. Bought it with the kit lens. I feel bad for the kit lens. It's really sharp though. I did a clubbing photo shoot this weekend and I was shooting F3.5-F5.6 approximately on my 17-55. My friend's kit lens kept right up with me of course. Even low light AF isn't an issue if you have a flash AF beam to help you out. So sometimes I feel like I wasted $850 on a 17-55, but there are times when the 2.8 comes in handy. IT's a question whether 2.8 + IS is worth that $850 on top of a kit lens :D

Nothing wrong with that :) You actually sound shocked!

I'm also a canon user. Selling my Rebel Xsi body and will be upgrading to possibly a t2i.

yes, i'm shocked because among the photographers i know in real life, 90% are nikon users.
in fact, i only know 1 canon DSLR person.

canon rules the P&S market though.
