Is this a HD sportster 883 XL?

I love the way this looks, i saw just the episode with him riding it. Is there an older version of this bike or bikes that look very much like it for about $2500 used? Interested in getting my first bike. I'm enrolled in a riding course

This is the style and look i want. I saw a 883 ironhead or something on the street and i drooled all over it. I didn't know these were part of the harley line.

First bike
Get a used GS500, Ninja 250, 250 rebel. Its your first bike, your going to drop it, and those shiny bits on an HD are dolla dolla bills!

I like/want a gs500, bandit. Maybe shadow.

Little 250 ninja dont get me up. I might end up with a zx6 as the market around me are flooded with them. I rather aim for a sv650, if I can't find a cruiser like that. That type of bike is called a cruiser? Or a standard?

I'm 90% sure its a
Harley of some sort.

Harley is a cruiser. SV650 is a standard but they do make an S version which is identical to the N model just with a fairing and some plastics...different headlight and clip-ons.

600cc supersport is not a good choice for a first bike. I'd put the SV650 at the upper end of what a n00b can handle too.

Where do you live? I'm looking to sell my 04 GS500.

i'm in chicago. if this was a car i would easily say i can go down and get it if the price is right. But i'm a noob rider. I got my class end of this month. I dont think i'm ready to make a ride from TX to IL

PM me details, I'll have to ask if one of my friends in houston can buy/rider it up here for me.

In terms of body position, how would you ride you "standard" bike, isn't it still like a crotch rocket type of style, maybe not as hunched over.

A crotch rocket for the most part has the rearsets behind your hips putting your legs behind you.
Both of those bike i would put into the standard catagory. They are like a recliner compared to a true sport bike. High bars, pegs in line with where your spine is.

Partly true. A sport bike has a more aggressive riding position because of the rearsets and because of the handlebars. The clip-ons found in on a sport bike are lower which forces your body over the tank. On a GS500 or a SV650, the rearsets are located directly below your ass and the handlebars are raised a bit to facilitate a more upright riding position, but it is in no way similar to a cruiser riding position.

My Street Triple R has the same basic riding position as my GS500, but to confuse that bike with a cruiser is ridiculous.

I thought that the foot pegs were at different positions as well, causing a different seating position.

black bars, black primary, black trim. its a version of the night train
