Stop wasting money on a real landline, get some kind of VoIP box (e.g. Ooma Telo) and plug it into the network, then plug base station into that. Problem solved.

Ah... I'm a loser and got a cell phone because it became convenient with school work groups, emergencies, selling shit on Craigslist, etc.

My plan is about $10/month and $25/text or call. I've never been able to use a year's worth of money and keep adding to my "bank".
