The dealer taught me stick on a Bullitt then I tried an automatic GT 2002 then I saw the prices on the Roushes and tried a Stage1 with Cold air induction and a short throw shifter(5-speed VERY easy to shift). Handles incredibly well and was $2000 more than a GT or Bullitt but I got $5000 for trade-in, $2000 off for X-plan, and $2000 off encentive so I think I did OK. I won't doctor it because I don't need to. Very few people have one of these:D

what are you looking to improve? handling? power? what's your budget? for big gains, there's three main options: Nitrous, supercharger or turbo setup. I don't know how many different cams there are for 4.6's, but cam swaps and head port/polish can help. I know the 5.0 market is huge for those kinds of things, the 4.6's are still picking up.

You can already get quite a bit of a performance boost by getting aftermarket intake and exhaust systems... These would be relatively cheap and wouldnt void your warranty...

Are there some informative websites that are about this very subject? Any links would be appreciated.

Supercharger or 125 shot of Nitrous will speed that thing up. there's always exhaust. Idon't know of any afterkarket intake manifolds for the 4.6s, and a cold air intake doesn't really do much. The cars respond pretty well to underdrive pulleys. 3.73 or 4.10 gears out back make a nice improvement. If you're gonig to be taking it to the 1/4 mile track, Drag Radials are worth thier weight in gold.

Both Steeda and SVO make intake manifolds for the 4.6 16v, don't know of any else off the top of my head

ninja - why'd you pick the GT over the Bullit? (If they had any when you went)

What kind of aftermarket stuff can you do to a 2002 Mustang GT?
a better question would be "what kind of aftermarket stuff can't you do to a 2002 mustang GT?"

I mean there are twin turbo kits, like 5 different kinds of supechargers, Nitrous kits like mine (only one I recommend to run above 150 shot on a 99+ due to returnless fuel system, and I don't give a goddamn what people say about Nitrous Expresses kits, because if they were so great SOMEONE would be running a 200-250 shot on them and they aren't) also you could go N/A(Naturally Aspirated) there are 2V GTs in the 10's if I am not mistaken. If not I know for a fact some NA GTs are in the 11's.

BTW buy a 99-00. The 2001-2002 have different and shitt!er(IMO) pistons than the 99-00.

I'm not a fan of stick, that's why I opted for a 2K2 GT. I also get a great discount from my company if I buy new. I'd pobably go with an exhaust change if the improvement were worth it(not for 5 HP). I'm not talking about anything major but everyone asks me if I have anything done to the one I own now and I haven't so it would be cool to say I did. I've heard of air filters making a difference, is there any truth to that? Remember: I don't want to hurt the car or void anything.

About the exhaust: Should it go all the way back or to the tires like the Rausch2. Is there a difference other than look? Thanks guys, I appreciate you helping a newbie:D

some basic mods are to remove the air silencer(that rubber thing on the air cleaner box) which is worth about 5 ponies in itself. An H or X pipe(off road or catalytic, depends on what you want) and headers are usually the next upgrade. I think the H pipe increases torque, and the X is more for higher end power, but don't take my word for it ;) there are a bunch of 'free' mods you can do to get power without spending any money

I'd recommend going to the store and picking up copies of the various Mustang magazines out there and start reading some tech articles. While you're at it, learn some basics on how internal combustion engines work, and then you'll begin to have an informed opinion on what modifications to start with.

Nitros are illegal in some states.

You're not a fan of the stick, and you want to mod your car? That kinds goes hand in hand, since Stick is arguably faster (unless you're drag racing) and it's useful to know.
