what kind of a power supply?

I've been using a 400watt Antec PS that it came with the case that I bought (antec performance II) with my NF7-S mobo and a 2500 barton and GF4 Ti and I had no problem.

now I want to put together a new rig and got a 925X intel mobo and a 3.2G P4 cpu and wanted to buy a X800 XL (PCI-express) and 512 DDR 2 ram.
I was wondering, do I need a new powersupply? or the 400w antec is fine.

no? because someone told me the pci-express card needs a power wire and I might need it 😱

Safe is NOT buying the X-Connect! Any of the ATers favored brands (Fortron/Sparkle, Enermax, TT (Sirtec), Silverstone (Enhance), PCP&C, Antec (Channel Well), Seasonic, Zippy etc.) would be a better choice than the X-Connect... What you have with an adapter if necessary should cover it.
.bh.

Where's the :sun: ?

I bought a 480watt power supply thinking that my new rig needed it but when I measured the power it draws from the wall socket while playing HL2, I got 150 watts...

I have an Athlon64 3500 and a Geforce 6800GT.

I'm wondering whether this means that I could have gotten by w/ a 250watt PS...

I wouldn't recommend that PSU. Your current PSU is a much better PSU then that one.

What you have will more than likely be fine. If you really want native SATA connectors, Antec's True430 has them.

cool but, I mean with a 400watt antec I can run all that stuff properly? becasue I don't think it has that wire 🙁
I'm a newbie

I don't see a problem with it. You can see here what I'm running on an Antec True550.

If you're happy with Antec. I'd stay with them.

Just get a True series if you're concerned. They all have the SATA/PCIe connectors.

hehe don't worry about it.
the thing is that, it's not out yet and I was aiming at mid february to be buying these
I don't know when it's gonna come out 😱

OCZ Modstream might also be good, it has the 20pin ATX connector and the little 4pin piggy back connector to make it a 24pin ATX connector.

I just got one to replace my X-connect because the X-connect doesn't fit in the CoolerMaster Wavemaster case.
