What kind of 9800 is this?

Hi all,

Recently, I purchased a "9800 non pro" on Ebay. Well, the card pictured and described was an OEM BBA non-pro with the standard 9800 HSF and Samsung 3.3ns memory. However, the card I got was a bit different. From the Serial #s and stickers I have decided that it is non BBA.... The part number (102A0753400) doesnt show up in the ATI database, and it is listed as "made in china" on the back of the card. The good news is that the card has 2.8ns Samsung Memory. Originally, I thought that maybe it was a very early 9800 non-pro OEM of some sort with the 2.8ns memory. However, it is the K4D263238E-GC2A memory which from all accounts is *later* memory than the early 2.8ns memory. The card registered and ran at 9800Pro speeds but this may be because it was flashed to 9800Pro.

The strangest thing is the Heatsink/Fan unit. You can see a picture here:

I haven't been able to find any 9800 model that has a similar HSF unit. So, im pretty stumped as to what it is. The card runs great and im happy with it but i'm simply curious about the unit itself. It seems to run cool enough but I might replace that HSF unit in the near future anyway.

Thanks in advance,

John

That's definately a different HSF than the one on my 9800NP with Infineon RAM. Regardless, if you are running with no artifacts or corruption after flashing it to a 9800 Pro, then I wouldn't sweat it.
