Some app on my iPhone keeps giving me a an audio notification (Tri-Tone) but no message appears on screen an no badges show up either. How can I find out which app is notifying me? In settings, all of my apps thst play sounds should have badges too.

By the defaults, tri-tone is a new voicemail.

Nope, no phone calls. It's an app.

Had an issue on an s7 about giving a tone due to nfc being on and it being in a folio style case.

Turn off the sounds on all your apps, then turn them on one at a time for a while until the offending shows itself.

Yeah, that might be the only option. I have dozens of social apps so this would take weeks while I miss important notifications from other apps. I was hoping there was another way.

See which apps have banners disabled but not sounds.
