What ISP do you suggest in the Bay Area (specifically East Bay)

I have had sbcyahoo for two years and I have had two ongoing problems that they can not fix. One is that the connection drops and comes back on between 11-12pm everyday. Second, the connection drops on almost every phone call. By dropping I mean that the red light on the DSL modem turns red. I have even had the whole house rewired and checked by them.

My other choice would prob be comcast but I am not sure what speeds I will be seeing. I checked verizon fios and it does not look like it is avaible in my area. Does anyoen have any other suggestions?

Quite frankly Comcast in all of california sucks!!!
They have 2 different teirs they have the 4 down and 384 up == 33.99 for 6 montyhs then 59.99 there after
then for an additional $10 you can opt for there 6 mb down and there 756 up....
Quite frankly I was a comcast customer for over 2 years....
The speeds were crappy and they never did approach the 6 mb down that I was paying for......
A sales rep even told me yahoo might be the better deal..lol

I have had AT&T/Yahoo now for almost 4 weeks..... my speeds for the first 2 weks were adjusted upwards based on my line.....
Even though I am paying 24.99 a month for the 6mb down and the 756 up.....
My download sped is more like 8mb down....
My speed does not vary at all day or night!! Customer service is excellent.....DSL is so much better than Comcast cable ever was!!

I am not very happy with att yahoo at all. My connection should not drop everyday. Perhaps I will give them one more try to fix my problem or I will be forced to go to comcast. The 6mb down and 7xx kb up is cheaper through sbc.

Maybe the phone people reboot their equipment everyday at that time and it has nothing to do with the Yahoo option. I have a cable modem in Illinois and sometimes the service is a little intermittent. It seems to slow down from time to time. It would be anoying to get disconnected in the evening at that time when a lot of gamers may be online. Personally I like doing stuff late at night.

another thing if you have wireless then somebody could be using your wireless...or possibly your wiring just cant handle....

I've had sbcyahoo for the past couple of years here (San Jose), and very rarely have I had any service drops or variation in speeds.

I'm on the penninsula, comcast 6Mb down works pretty nicely. I'm not sure about now, but a few years back SBC was capped at 1.5Mb down, and because of that limit I switched. So far have been very happy, only lost service a few times, mainly during large storms knocking down power lines/utility poles and the week we had the massive heatwave this summer.

SBC/Yahoo ort AT&T/Yahoo is divided up into 3 different packages....
Express --- 1.5 down
Pro -- 3.0mb down
Elite -- 6.0 mb down up -- 756

The prices vary from region to region....
