What ISIS Really Wants

Iraq and Syria are not exactly well off by Western standards or even Gulf State standards, especially after many years of war.

Not now of course because those nations are engulfed in wars. However both nations have/had very large populations of educated people some of whom are part of ISIS. Yet as you said ISIS is made up of many types of people, both from the region itself and those outside of it. Additionally you previous statements still does not address why Western Muslims are drawn to ISIS when almost every example so far of these muslims is of those who are by all accounts well off and/or well educated people.

Thanks for this article. It makes very clear why so many Westerners are attracted to ISIS, even with its horrific brutality on display almost daily. Adherents to ISIS obviously believe ISIS is the only path to "salvation."

Of course, most modern Christians have no problem abandoning practices clearly supported in the Bible (such as slavery and polygamy) that modernity has taught us are immoral. And "most" applies to Muslims, too, rejecting the old ways. Unfortunately, if even 0.01% of Muslims believe that Islam as described in the Koran is the only true Islam, that's still 1.6 million who FULLY support what ISIS is doing.

Most Christians support the New Covenant over the Old. It has nothing to do with modernity and everything that Jesus told us to do. The problem with the Koran is that it doesn't have Jesus to invalidate all of its horrible stuff.
