My firewall (linux) and fileserver (FreeBSD) have both been up well over a year. Probably closer to 2 now.

I would bet the typical AT'er does a lot more than that. Even without a lot of P2P downloading

i was wondering the same thing...transfering files back and forth between comps and stuff i bet i do about a gig a week at least at work...
it may have an uptime of 90 days but it has a "fun time" factor of a week

That's an average of 2.6gb/mo....

I haven't done any P2P in the last year or so.. No pr0n.

That's a lot of web surfing...

thats only 91 MB a day, you can get that much surfing the net for just a few hours. (delete your web cache, surf for 2 hours, then check it again to see what I mean)

and if your on 24/7, having net enabled apps open like outlook and trillian eventually add up, I'd still expect more than 8 Gigs total

$ uptime
2:18PM up 343 days, 2:25, 1 user, load averages: 0.31, 0.22, 0.19

That's pretty good (for an internal mail relay)

...

On one of our routers:

holly-c2524 uptime is 1 year, 31 weeks, 22 hours, 44 minutes

IOS update & a UPS service brought it from nearly two years to that.

Everyone always comments on my task bar..

Please tell me I'm not the only one that actually like, uses their computer to do what Windows was designed to do.. multitask.

It's the task bar. Are you only allowed to have 1 task at a time or something? If I'm not done reading/with something, or am going to use/read it more in 2, 4, 6 or 24 hours.. what is the point in closing it? ;)

FYI, there are two more lines of tasks below the one you can see. :p

745mb in use. You have multi GHz computers with gigabytes of ram. USE IT!

my only problem with it is that there need to be more porgrams like mozilla. where i can have multiple windows open but only one little bar on the bottom. simply looking at it makes me feel ill...

i turn my work computer off every friday night. My personal computers at home stay off most of the time, I never leave any of them on over night.

This is disgraceful...

yea, who logs in as root to check uptimes. This makes baby Jesus cry. :-/

I, uh, don't have an account on that machine. I meant with that much uptime there must be quite a few patches missing.
