6800GS PCIe in a sli configuration 2 of - what would be better/faster?:Not same name brand cards. 2 of XFX each has - 480 engine clock setting from stock and 256mb ram, or 2 of XPert Vision - 420 engine clock from stock with 512mb ram.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

DEFINETLY the xfx versions. u are gonna see no noticable improvements with 512mb over 256mb on those cards and the extra core speed(especially being that its the same on both cards) will help nicely in overall performance. so go with the xfx's and be happy. the mem clocks on the xfx's are also clocked 100mhz higher, that will provide a noticable performance boost as well. course for the price of 2 6800gs's u could just get one 7800gt/gtx, x1800xl/xt, x1800gto, or 7900gt. all the cards i listed are gonna outperform TWO 6800gs's by themselves. the x1800xt and the 7900gt will outperform them by leaps and bounds. so my advice would be to get a newer card and then maybe go SLI later instead of wasting money on a older SLI setup.

If you don't have either card at the moment, then I would get a faster single card...

good choice man 🙂

i LOVE my 7900gt and running at 625/1950 i wouldnt trade it for any other card. period. i think you will be much happier this way both performance wise and power bill wise hehe. some extra advice. if u have the money get urself a good aftermarket cooler and some ramsinks for the 7900gt. this will make it OC much better, make it more stable, and increase the overall life of the card as it drastically reduces temps. have fun
