What Is Your Portion Size?

Yesterday I got home too late and did not feel like cooking, so, I ordered pizza delivery (which I do every two months or so). Two large ones from PJ's. Ate one whole one for dinner. And, that got me thinking, - how much do most people eat at a time, in portion sizes?

For example, when I cook a pasta dinner, for myself I serve on a single plate four serving sizes of pasta, two serving sizes of souce, two serving sizes of salmon (and it is only the main course, there is also soup and dessert).

The minimum amount of serving sizes of anything that would somewhat satisfy me is, I guess, two.

Is one suggested serving size ever enough for anyone?

serving sizes aren't meant to satisfy hunger, afaik, they're meant to portion out a structured diet calorie-wise. for folks who need a lot of calories, one "serving" will be a great deal more than for me, who sits on my ass neffing all day. you ever seen the "based on a 2000 calorie diet" stuff? well, you sound like a man who needs about 3 or 4 times that much per day, may be more 🙂 Unless you're grossly overweight, you are getting YOUR one serving of food. Enjoy.

Well, I am just curious as to how many "serving sizes" do people, on average, eat at one time.

I'm six foot four and a half inches and about one eighty five pounds now. Trying to put on some more muscle weight.

well in that case, if i'm hungry, I can usually polish off 4-6 piece of a PJ large. not sure on pasta portions though. plus our builds are roughly the same, I'm 5'10-11" and just under 180 right now.

I can eat 2-3 pieces of pizza MAX. how teh hell did you eat a whole one

2-3 is OK for a snack, but for a meal only a whole pie will do for me

But, mostly, I eat rice, pasta, fish, steak, tons of fruits and veggies. I can polish off five pounds of apples, easy, after a meal

if you want to build some mass, eat hard boiled egg whites, a dozen a day, and plenty of peanut butter...

I used to do all of that, - shakes, powders, much meat, milk, so on, - yes, I was about 20 pounds heavier than now, but, Once I stopped eating as much as I used to, I lost much weight

Half a "large" pizza is usually my serving size. Same thing for freezer pizza's like Digornos or Freschetta. Half them will do me. Something like a tombstone that is light on the crust and light on the toppings I'll eat the whole thing.
