What is your perception of North Carolina State University?

Just trying to get a feel of what people think about the University. Do you view it as a very good engineering school? or do you think of it more as a back up school for those who dont get into the high level schools?

If you have any experience with NCSU grads in the work place, tell me about it.

I almost went there for engineering... I think it's a great school. A friend of mine went through material science & engineering at ncsu and landed in a Phd program afterwards

USNews Top 3 Engineering Schools

I'm also hoping they beat dook

I'm an MSE major. Why the hell would you go to NCSU. Please. I would chose any UC school over NCSU any day.

As your link suggests... top 3 engineering school. I don't see NCSU anywhere, but I do believe I made the right choice going to Cal as an engineer.

I never went into engineering, so I don't know first hand what the program is like. I know it's not a top school, but in NC , it's known for it's engineering over any other majors

1. Cal is top in everything... if you have to choose a school I really don't care where you go, but apply to Cal, tell your friends to do the same,
2. The increase the number of applicants increases selectivity making my degree worth more...
3. ...
4. Profit

I heard the campus is ugly. I spent four years at Duke, and never even visited NC State.

I think this makes you unqualified to speak on the aesthetics

Like I said, I heard it from my friends who have been there.

Decribed in two words: red brick

hmm, I thought Duke could be describe as "basketball school." considering the blue devils are ranked 1, and are currently undefeated.

NCSU has mostly red brick, but their school colors are red and white, so it works.
