That violates the right to not self incriminate. It's a fairly esoteric distinction imo, but it is what it is. I also don't use voice commands on my phone. Just cause. My arms and fingers work, so I'll use them.

Voice commands are for when you're driving and you forgot to load up Maps and typing "Gentlemen's Club" is too long and distracting to do it safely. It's come in handsy for me a few times.

Well I guess I should've been a bit more precise, I mean that if they could compel me to put my thumb on the phone then they could make me type in my PIN. I dunno about any of the legal stuff, and I'm not concerned about it anyway. If I'm a criminal in some case then the poop has hit the fan.

I don't use a phone pattern unlock. Phone pattern unlock is supseptable to locking the actuall phone owner for good if something goes wrong with the touch sensors on the phone display.

as someone has already stated, upon rebooting, the phone does not allow biometric so reboot it.
face ID requires you to be conscious so they can't just knock you out and stick it in front of your face.

Wouldn't that be the case for pin too? That said, I think pin is considered more secure, so there's that. The pattern would be more secure if it let you use the same dot twice. Don't know why they restrict it, as it reduces the possible patterns.

That's something I love that's available on my Pixel 3 - it's a feature I have enabled called "Lockdown" which I can access by holding my power button and then tapping on "Lockdown" which then disables biometric unlock until unlocked with something you know; be it password, PIN, or pattern. Feel the least bit worried and it's a quick move away.

I would not recommend using a pattern unlock.

The best option is a long, alphanumeric password with a good variety of character types.

If that is too complicated, a long pin, such as > 8 digits is the next best option.
