I've been using ZA for a while... could be better... often their releases are buggy when the add new features.

Ad blocking and such is still kinda flaky. I loved it when a bug caused it to block all access to auction site like Ebay.

hardware firewall > software firewall

You can get a 4-port router for $30.00 now. Why bother with a software firewall?
To have control over outbound connections 🙂

I've been using it for over a year....once its configured correctly it works like a dream (much like any other firewall).

IP Based firewalls are better. I use ATguard

what the hell is that supposed to mean? zonealarm is what you would describe as "ip based", although i dont think its the same "ip" as you're talking about.

i use ipfilter myself.

perhaps i only remember using the old ZoneAlarm and when the wizard popup up, it would ask to let the connection go through and whether to set it as a server or not. I ran into problems using just that and certain sharing programs wouldn't work right.

With ATGUARD im able to control what programing is accessing on what port. I can allow connections based on ip and ports.

Yes I know how to configure it, however it still doesn't work. Thanks for your input, dork.
