What is your net worth?

Everyone wants to know how far in the hole everyone else is. I think its time to show how much you are worth:

Here goes(this includes my wife as well):

401k's: 60k

Roth IRA's: 25k

Two vehicles(both paid for) around 10k

Home equity: Around 130k

Total net worth: 225k

I dont think this is too bad considering that we bought our house and set up our retirement accounts 8 years ago.

We have only a 20k note on a new minivan we just bought, but other than that, we owe nobody else anything.

Edited for piss poor spelling.

Peace

I'm not a finance guy so I don't know what home equity really means, but we bought a $330k house we're paying mortgage on. And I have $22k in company stock I'm saving for our wedding. Our vehicles are all paid already (~$15k value now). Other than that, I live paycheck-to-paycheck. 😉 Ain't life great ? I'm 26 if that matters.

is my brain worth anything, considering i invested a lot in college tuition. what about my life? that's gotta be worth something too, considering i have life insurance.

You are going to liquidate your stocks and blow $22,000 on your wedding?

No choice. I'll get most of it back as evidenced by other asian weddings. I wouldn't "blow" $20k on anything except a nice car. 😉

No choice?! That sucks. Better hope you get some serious wedding gifts....

Age: 19
Mutual Fund Investments: $14,528.90
1 vehicle (paid for): approx $14,000
100-acre property value in Donelson, TN: approx $1,350,000
Net worth: approx $1,378,528.90

The land was inherited this past July when my grandfather passed away. So, I'm lucky in that respect. Everything else I earned.

401k - $300? Just started December. (I am only 19)
My car - $9000
Loan on my car - ($8000)
Student Loans - (~$20,000) so far, 3 more years left 🙁

Soooo, I am worth about negative $20,000. However, I do have life insurance for about $100,000. I am scared to death my parents are going to whack me!

That's just ridiculous. You are blowing probably 50% of your networth on a wedding.

Asian weddings usually means cold hard cash as gifts...He will most likely break even or make money.

No need to call it dumb. You don't know our situation. And it's more than that. $22k was just my savings so far.

When you charge something like $200 per person for the Chinese wedding dinner you usually get a nice chunk back.

My grandfather is a millionaire on paper with his real estate also. When he passes away I don't think I will get anything though, as I have 4 uncles, my mom and 16 cousins, heh.

You just stated your situation asshat. You said you had bought a 330k house so I assume you have SOME equity in it, but you also are about to blow your other significant amount of net-worth on a wedding. Vehicles depreciate anyway, so they are definitely not a good investment.

My family used to own half of rural Tennessee, so it was divided up between the males upon each owners death, and it gets less and less. However many male decendant I have, it will be split up eavenly between them. That's the tradition. Women get nothing 😛

I'm not understanding this animosity. And read the thread about blowing.

You put your business on the street, be prepared to take some heat...

so it is more than 22k...that is really dumb.
