lol budman..

lets see.. my first computer was a 486 (some sort of Ambra computer), and it still runs.. but as for components, I'd have to say that my oldest working add-in card is an Opti-931.

the floppy drive on that thing I think died.. though I have to make sure I have all the cables attached properly first..

Mobos seem to last a while everything else breaks, athough CPUs actually also last a very long time if u take care of them, (i.e. no OCing).

I pretty much upgraded all of my old stuff this year, upgraded my 17" 3 year old monitor 2 weeks ago.

I guess the oldest part right now is my 2 year old Microsoft PS2 intellimouse.

Mine is my 2.1GB hard drive. I think it's a Quantum Sirroco... Had it for over 5 years now.

HDs do blow out, and 5-8 years seems for my computers about the timefram for that.
BTW I have had floppy drives stop working over time

My floppy drive was my longest lasting piece 4/96 - 3/01...RIP! My case now is my oldest piece from 5/98. Most everything else is since 12/00.

Actually my entire p-pro 200 scsi system still running today at my mom's and it was purchased in 4/96...

only really had a few items ever die on me...mostly harddrives, and one monitor...

My TEAC floppy has been in every computer that I have built since 1994! It is still running strong.

Probably my monitor, it keeps going and going and going, everything else in the computer has been replaced though.

I use a floppy drive and a monitor (secondary) both originally with a 486. THe monitor is stamped 1992. It runs 1028X768 too! Flickers a bit, but only if it's turned off and on too much.

Edit: Forgot to mention it's a 14 or 15"

My power cords.

My monitor will end up being one of my longest components as I expect it to last 5+ years. The rest will be upgraded over the next year or two. Also monitor technology changes much slower than everying else (with the exception of power cords,) and so having one several years old is not a bad thing.

Floppy drive!

Case comes in second, but had to change the case to fit a new motherboard.

...they will never make my floppy drive obsolete!

This year I replaced my 17" IDEK monitor that was purchased in 1991. I paid then what you can now get for a quite decent computer system.

heh.. I know this monitor is going to last a while..

my Soundcard also will continue lasting for a LONG time no doubt..

I also have a cheap boom-box, it looks like it came out in the 80's or something.. I bought it at a garage sale! the transformer on it blew, so we replaced it.. it's getting old, but the headphone plug still works perfectly!
