What is your favorite rifle and ammunition?

It does not have to be something you own, or even are allowed to own. Military style or military rifles are fine.


I guess mine would be the M4 Commando with the Army's 5.56 green tip round.

Great for CQB, compact, great for modifications etc...

Remmington 700P with some .308 cal M118LR or Federal Gold Medal Match F-168gr. I like it because it was fun to pop targets out at 500M

I have shot a lot of different stuff. My favorite? Believe it or not, it would be an 1896 Swedish Mauser shooting the 6.5x55mm Swedish round. The Swedes were WAY ahead of their time - small cal., unbelievable ballistic coefficient, flat shooting, low recoil, long range!

That's fine if you like cheaply made pieces of shat that have no accuracy. The SKS is a fairly useless rifle. I have one, and mine is one of the early VietNam era ones and it is still a POS. They have a crappy trigger and just don't shoot well. You probably have this opinion as the SKS was your first rifle because it was CHEAP. Carry it into combat and see what happens if you have to engage at 200+ yards.....you won't live long to find out.

I would have to say my favorite rifle to shoot is my FN LAR (FN-FAL Para) with a match barrel in .308 caliber. I like this gun because although it is heavy it is well balanced and extremely accurate. I can hit 8" discs at 300 yards off hand. It is almost impossible to miss with this weapon unless you are incompetent with a gun.

I love my Thomson Contender .223, has a pattern of ~2" at 200yards with my 14x scope.

Just a good all around target shootig gun.

When the assault weapon ban ended last September 30rd mags, flash suppressors, and collapsible stocks all became 100% legal(unless made illegal by your state laws.)
