what is your favorite "ordinary" car?

By ordinary I mean common, cheap, everyday sort of car that pretty much anyone can afford and is not known to make heads turn. You know, the Ford Tauruses and Honda Civics of the world 😛

For some reason, for as long as I can remember, I've always wanted a Ford Ranger. My father had two when I was little, and I can remember riding around with him in it, making deliveries. My friend also has a Ranger. When my last car died, I was looking specifically for a Ranger. I found what seemed to be the perfect one: 1995, dark red, extended cab, 4x4, low miles, and most importantly, stick shift. I came so close to buying it, but the dealer didn't offer financing and no banks offered auto loans for vehicles older than 97.

The Ranger is the perfect truck for me. 4-wheel-drive is nearly a necessity where I live (we will shortly see how my Saturn holds up in snow), and since we have a woodstove a truck would make getting firewood much easier. Plus, with what other type of vehicle can you load the rear with food and drinks, park somewhere and lower the tailgate for a makeshift table? And it's not huge, fairly economical, and fun to drive. Just something about them.

it will be mine someday

My favorite ordinary car?

Crown Victoria

V8, RWD, smooth ride, relatively dependable and seats similar to your living room chair. What could possibly be better than driving around in a La Z Boy?

And of course you always look like the Police driving around, so nobody passes you on the highway.

I would have to say a toss up for these 3;
Older Q45 with the 4.5L with VVT
240SX (after an engine transplant)
Crown Victoria

I'd rock one of the new Toyota Tacomas in a heartbeat 🙂 I do also like the Honda Accord, and the Toyota Camry and Solara in Se trim with the optional 18" BBS wheels 🙂

Bought my second Civic last year. It was still the most practical and dependabe thing 12 years after the first one. Not as much fun to drive as a Mini, but oh, well.

civic's are pretty neat. Their gas milage is pretty good, and their newer models handle pretty decently and are semi powerful.

i'd love to drive a v6 accord around, though there are like a million others per city on the road
And i'd really love to have a Infiniti G20.. oh wait! I Do 🙂

Subaru Legacy 2.5i Limited. It is a bit on the expensive end for "ordinary," but well worth the 24k or so that it costs.

Wanna Ride?
Thats my favorite too 😀 daily driver...no black bra though yet...but dark green is the way to go 🙂
I do prefer the gen 2's though...R.I.P.

what is the point of a bra? i think it just spoils the image of the car...unless there is a purpose for

in europe, i haven't seen any cars with those, and in the US i see so many...is it fashion? purpose?

To protect from nicks and dents in the hood would be the only point in meself ever getting one....especially during the winder months where i live uses cinders instead of salt and so end up with all sorts of nicks in paint at the end of winter.
but they also look nice on a bull (taurus)...on the dark ones at least...i dunno about the red or powder blue ones.
