What is your favorite James Bond movie and why?

I am a huge espionage fan and have been interested in it since I can remember. I love all movies espionage and that includes the Born Identity trilogy, the Tom Clancy trilogy of the Hunt For Red October, Patriot games and Clear And Present Danger to Ronin. I also like video games that are of a espionage realm. Like Playstation's Syphon Filter, Metal gear, N64's Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

My favorite James Bond movie would have to be Goldeneye. I love Goldeneye because I like Russian history. You would think I would like the movie From Russia With Love, but the scenes aren't really in what is Russia. I think there is a scene in Russia, it's been a while since I seen it. In Goldeneye you are taken to a cold war type city of Russia and it just has that cold war feel to it. I also like the character Boris. He's a computer nerd/hacker like I am (well, not too much of a hacker) and I like his love of the female. "What is right in front of you and can open very large doors?" LOL

I also like Goldeneye because of the subsequent video game that came out after the movie for the Nintendo 64. My bro and I played that game all the TIME! It was bad ass. I now have the ROM for my Mupen64 emulator. After Goldeneye in circa 2000 came PerfectDark which was a spin off of Goldeneye but the main character was a woman by the name of Joana Dark. Some of the Goldeeye levels are there in PerfectDark. I think PerfectDark would have made a great comic. I'm not sure if it was or not though. I do have the PerfectDark ROM for my Mupen64 emulator as well. I bought a N64 controller to USB adapter to play the two games.

On eBay they have for sale the Goldeneye key, but it's $300 and I would love to own it. Soon I hope to buy it.

So slugheads, what is your favorite James Bond movie? 😀

Agree on Golden Eye.

Thirded! Brosnan had a huge impact in those initial episodes. I still remember watching the opener for GE and being floored in the theater even before all the high-res 3D wizardy it felt amazing. My following faves are all Connery 🙂

Goldeneye is a good one. I really like Goldfinger as well. Just a fun movie. While the Daniel Craig ones are okay, I'm not a terribly big fan of the dark and gritty Bond.

not a huge fan of bond in general, but if i had to pick one it would be golden eye, and a lot of that would be due to the video game on n64.

I love Sean Connery! Loved him in Indiana Jones, The Rock and Entrapment. His character name in the movie Rising Sun is Capt. John Connor. LOL

Goldfinger, with Pussy Galore, Oddjob, the great theme song, and "No Mr Bond, I expect you to die!" whats not to love?

If I'm flipping through channels and see a Bond flick, I almost always stop to watch the rest of it, even the very old ones. But I don't remember the titles. The only one I can think of that I don't really care for is the one with Tanya Roberts, but I doubt I've seen them all.

From Russia With Love-much more realistic. For the post-Sean Connery flicks until Craig took over, James Bond is almost a cartoon superhero. Daniel Craig has done an excellent job of reviving the franchise, is the only real James Bond after Connery.

Was Goldeneye the really violent one where Bond's body count rivaled that of an Arnold movie? If so that was my least favorite.

Casino Royale I think is excellent, and Quantum of Solace at least had some brightspot moments. Haven't seen Skyfall but by and large I think the more gritty direction the movies have taken with Craig is a big improvement. The older ones are just so kitschy, my dad loves them for it but it just makes me think of CSI Miami type tripe.

For whatever reason I do have a certain soft spot for License to Kill though.

Not really a big Bond guy, but I think Casino Royale is the best one by far even though I think Daniel Craig is pretty terrible in everything.

I also really like The Living Daylights.

My favourites from what I have on DVD, in order:

Casino Royale
Tomorrow Never Dies
OHMSS
I have 'Live and Let Die' on DVD for some reason, perhaps that was a "seemed like a good idea at the time" choice.

I probably ought to add to my DVD collection:

Goldfinger
From Russia With Love
Possibly: Goldeneye. There's a moment I love in it when he disarms someone with a towel 🙂 It reminds me a bit of 'The Chronicles of Riddick' - death by teacup.

I'm tempted to say Goldfinger because even though it wasn't the first Bond film, it was the film so successful that it's formula would become the standard for which all bond films would be made. But... eh. I have to pick Goldeneye. It was the first one I ever actually saw in a theater myself personally and was an excellent modern movie in it's own right. It hold in a special place in my cold, dark heart.
