Shooter for PC, Action for console.

For PC, it's the Shooter genre, but Action (aka Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and POP:Warrior Within) and Racing (NFS series) are also personal favorites.

Console: Sports. IMHO they just look better on consoles.

RTS for PC, voted for strategy... ie C&C series, warcraft, starcraft etc

RPG is a close second tied with FPS


for console i'd say Adventure, with fighting a close second

and i haven't owned a console since Genesis
(but would say "action")

Gotta go with FPS on the PC - I've wasted more hours on those over the years than anything else, by far.

Consoles...never been a console person. Never even owned a console. So...I don't know.

RPG games on the pc for me. Those are about the only type of games I play anymore. If I ever play a console game it's NBA 2k5 so sports on that one.

i dont consider black and white to be in the same genre as Warcraft/Starcraft, C&C, TA, AoE, etc. I think strategy is a good descriptor of it, but distinct from RTS. Just IMO, if thats where these games lie, thats where my vote will go.

I consider the Civ series to be strategy games, but not RTSs

The original Wolfenstein (on 2 floppys) made me an FPS player on the PC. Only game I ever played on a console (my kid's box) was the original Zelda.

i don't consider DE/Thief to be FPS or "shooter" . . . certainly not "stealth" . . . . Thief - DS is BOTH 1st or 3rd person as are many other new games

I can't categorize them either, so I went to IGN and just took the values from them.

It's so stupid too, they have Unreal under action and Unreal II under Shooter.

Consol: RPG.

This is a tough poll...

I was torn between racing and sports games for the console, but settled on sports games.

With the PC platform, my initial urge was to quickly hit Shooters. But since WoW owns my soul right now, I couldn't make such a hasty decision. In the end I chose Shooters, because that was pretty much all I played on the PC until WoW showed up in my cart.

Fighting for the console, simply because I suck at shooters/action with a controller.

PC - A whopping 45% of the catagories have zero votes.
