Read Thunderbolt by Robert S. Johnson. Good book on a pilot from Oklahoma and his P47 experiances.

The P47 wasn't that 'slow' after the installed the paddle blade propellors on them.

Trivia. What was the US plane from WWII that also flew in VietNam?

I read Thunderbolt several years ago. Read Forked Tail Devil at the same time. Both were very good books. I also have several others about WWII air combat that are good reads. Even have 5 or 6 about the fighter pilots/planes of WWI. Probably the best of the WWI bunch is a book called The Years of The Sky Kings Not even sure that's still in print since it's a book my Dad had and I think it was published years, and years, and years ago. I'm 32 and can remember him having that book when I was just a little kid.
