what is your BMI?

BMI is a worthless system

I'm 185 and 5'10", technically overweight. Nevermind the fact that I can bench 300, squat a tad over 400 and deadlift 500

yea, im overweight all right

Body mass index.

Really inaccurate since it doesn't take into account muscle mass. Someone like Emmitt Smith or Mark McGwire would be considered obese as well.

Body Mass Index. Some sort of calculation of how much body fat you have based on your height and weight.

ah ic...so wat's a normal range? i take it 45 is rather high when some other dude says 18.5 and is embarrassed about it.. 😱

22.3 and I'm pretty slim. (9.6 percent body fat last time I had to have it measured) I should probably gain a little weight but I can't afford to eat any more than I do already. 😀

EDIT: 5'11, 160lbs

26.6
6' tall, 196lb.

I don't put much credence into the BMI, though. After hiking 2000 miles at 30mi/day (burning rougly 6000-7000cal/day for three months), I was down to 183lb. That's a 24.8, or almost overweight. Yeah.

Weight isn't the best way of measuring physical health.

BMI is such crap. Mine is 27.5. I'm 214 pounds and 74 inches.

It says my ideal weight is 148 - 195 lbs. 148?! If I was 148 pounds... I wouldn't be 148 pounds if I had AIDS and malaria at the same time. I can see 195, but this thing needs to take into account body types or something. I've always been a thick dude.

I would have to agree that this is a worthless system. It claims that if you are 6' 1". and weigh 140 lbs, then you are in the normal range.

Anyone know what organization came up with this thing? Must be the medical/pharmaceutical community...The average doctor is so out of touch with diet and nutrition that it's a joke.
