When I hold the door for someone and they don't say thank you.

I let them know they are assholes by sarcastically shouting "your welcome".

Someone did this to me, the only thing was they were coming in the out door so I was a little taken aback by them being in my way and so there was this one second pause before I thanked them for being in my way and holding the door for me which gave them the chance to roll off the "your welcome". Whatever floats their boat. I hope they slept better that night.

People that change lanes without signaling or pass on the right without hesitation (discouraging others from the correct behavior, which is to move-right and let the faster vehicle pass).

Ain't got time for left lane assholes to figure out that they are assholes; they never do. If people are passing on the right, it is because the asshole is too far left. No point in trying to fix dumb. Just pass on the right and be on your way.

Tailgating by others. Drives me insane. Wanted so many times to just hit the brakes and let them do the damage but knew better. Will slow down if you get too close to me. If it's raining, I'll put my tires into the dirtiest, wettest portion of the road and cover you with as much stuff as I can (would love to spray WD40 out the window, but again, know better). Close second is those that try to push you out of a lane on a highway that is not limited access and has turning lanes to the left. All multi lane highways do not have fast / slow lanes.

:D Funny stuff.

The only reason I ever tail gate is when you need to GTFO of my way. It's unfortunately the only way to tell someone that you want past them.

If I'm coming up behind you in the left lane, you've got until I'm a half a second from smashing into the back of your car to move over, or I'll pass you on the right. No patience for that shit.

I'll echo the slow driver in the left lane pet peeve. Infuriating. Especially when they're going like 1mph faster than traffic in the right lane. I've been stuck behind people for literally miles and miles due to this situation, and you better believe when the chance to pass them comes up, you seize it like a fuckin' madman. I know people usually trumpet that speeding around doesn't make a difference, but it actually does make a big difference on long trips.

I've been wanting to put one of those programmable scrolling signs in the back window of my car for years. It would be fantastic to be able to get up ahead of someone, and give them messages.

"Please adjust your FUCKING HEADLIGHTS properly" would be a common one. D:

Need a loudspeaker like police have for folks in front of you I guess.

Often times the "left lane assholes" are trying to merge right but can't because of all the people passing on the right. They slow down EVEN MORE to look for an opening. Good job.
Nope. Those aren't left lane assholes.

Left lane assholes park their themselves in the left lane while absolutely nobody is around and when you come up behind them they refuse to move over. They are either being belligerent or oblivious. Either way, they qualify as assholes.

Or they pace car the car next to them. The lanes are open ahead of them for miles. All they need to do is accelerate or decelerate a bit and move over in front of or behind the same people that are going the very same speed. They refuse. That makes them assholes.

There is no excuse for them.

Left lane should be for passing. If you aren't passing and someone is behind you, move over.

If I had a snowplow and immunity from prosecution, there would be a whole lot fewer left lane assholes in the world. As it is, all I can do is address the symptoms.

Exactly this! And if you dare tap your horn to tell them to move over, they get pissy and deliberately drive even slower.

The other really annoying habit that drivers in central OH have is to brake through intersections that have a solid green light and clear road. Then they take half a mile to get back up to speed.

- texting and driving (it is already an epidemic)
- bad drivers in general (i could make a whole list of just this, had to single out texting and driving though)
- retail/restaurant cashiers who act like they are doing you a favor by ringing you up
- people who can't say thanks when you hold the door for them
- people who don't hold the door for you when clearly they know you're right behind them
- when people don't put weights back at the gym
- tables full of people with their faces looking down at their cell phones while eating at a restaurant
- people who talk really really loud at the gym (one reason i started wearing headphones)
- when i'm fishing and people walking by ask me what i've caught like they really give a shit

People who begin their discussions with me (loudly) while they are still five feet away from my office entrance only to discover that I am on the phone. The next step is to apologize and then proceed talk over my phone conversation anyway.

My biggest pet peeve? Tough one. That might just have to be people with a lack of common sense and/or incompetency. McDonalds employees would fit this description. And here's a vid to show you what I'm talking about using Joe Pesci. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWfaiTLPUKQ

Mayne, they have lotto ticket vending machines here in CO. LOL!

Edit- YouTube is a creeper. This vid showed up on its front page. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvFGCQOJyxY

What makes matters worse is I just ate McDonalds. D:
What, you mean like people that complain about McDonald's, but still go to McDonald's? :hmm:
Again, multi lane highways have left turns and in some cases, you need to be in the left lane (as the right lanes turn off).
Ugh, I hate it when I'm in some damned city that has left exits from the highway (which doesn't sound like what you're talking about, but the point stands).

No, it really doesn't.

But you did remind me of one of my pet peeves, people that will take damn near ANYTHING, and try to make it into a "haw-haw, stupid liberal/conservative" thing.

I have a pet peeve of retail clerks not saying "thank you", when I purchase items at the store. Yesterday afternoon I was in the grocery store, and the clerk said "thank you", while handing me my change. I was a bit shocked, and it took three seconds for it to register with me. Then I enthusiastically replied, "you're welcome"!

[Hoping I pass the grammar nazi's test, and hopefully I will not be ridiculed and shamed. Do these people contribute anything else to these forums?]

People that chew with their mouths open
People that talk during movies and concerts
Smokers and Vape users
Line cutters
People that are not ready when they are next in line. For instance they have been waiting for 5-10 minutes in line at a restaurant and only when it is their turn at the counter do they decide to think about what they are going to order. Then when they get to the register they wait until the entire transaction is done before they even think to open their wallet or purse to get out their payment. Totally oblivious to the people waiting behind them.
People with outrageously complex orders at the drive through. (one of the main reasons I never use a drive through) If you have to special order all your items park your damn car and go into the restaurant. I always seem to get behind the mom that has 4 kids and each one wants their hamburger special and they want frys with no salt, sodas with no ice and anything else they can think of to make their order as complex as possible and then have to inspect each and every item to make sure it is correct.

People waiting for an elevator that wait against the door and are ready to mow over those inside waiting to get out. Also, people who come after me to wait for the elevator and move into the exit zone that I've created between me and the elevator doors. Also people that don't pay attention to the direction the elevator is currently moving and get visibly upset that you are going down when they wanted up. Basically, there's a lot of stupid people that use elevators. I take the stairs unless 5+ flights.

Yes. The forum would be an unintelligible mess without them because no one would be self-conscious enough to care. We'd have more back and forth arguing due to misunderstandings and inability to properly communicate intentions. It would be a madhouse.

Again, not all multi lane roads have the requirement for me to move, just limited access highways, period. If I'm making a left turn, I have every right to be in the left lane, and if I'm not making a left turn, I have every right to be in the left lane. There are no fast / slow lanes on these type of highways.

Oh, and I'll be happy to move out of the way on a highway that requires me to move out of the way. However, if you push me, I'll slow down and slide back over (very slowly) to the car that I was passing. If I'm making a reasonable attempt to get past the other car and you're tailgating me, you're the one breaking the law, not me.

You HATE being tailgated. People HATE when you don't move over to let them go.

If you move over, you win because the a-hole isn't tailgating you anymore. He also wins because he's not stuck behind the slow a-hole who is blocking him. It is a clear win-win situation.

Don't choose lose-lose simply because you don't HAVE to move over. All I'm hearing is that if you don't legally HAVE to be courteous then you won't. That's just being a dick.*

*Obviously this doesn't apply to the times when you are actually turning left and need the left lane. Nor does it apply to the times when the jerk trying to "push" you out of the way when you are actually passing someone.

I bet we can all agree that self-driving cars can't come fast enough.

Don't get me wrong, I love driving and will always enjoy rowing my own down the back roads or what not. But most people just can't drive. The death of the manual transmission is a testament to this.

Imagine every car knowing where every other car is on the road, and adjusting speed accordingly. Smooth intersections, with rarely a red light. Perfect zipper merges every time. No more traffic jams and accidents, or at least far reduced.

We need this. Now. It's no wonder so many companies are working so hard on it, it's going to be the biggest revolution in the automotive world since the automobile itself.

I just hope I'm not 80 by the time it's fully implemented...

Where a bodycam and post the ones that fail to thank you. I bet you could create a YT channel just for this one idea and make money at it.

Biggest? Can't think of one that's obviously biggest. The biggest would be the one that's annoying me at any particular time.

Some:

Sirens day and night.
Barking dogs
Dogs shitting on my lawn and the people who accompany them and watch and then walk away.
DJ Trump and all his annoying fans
Mayne Threads.

Incompetency is everywhere. It took me a while but finally realized that there's no escaping that conclusion, as difficult as it is to accept.
