When I was a kid I wrote a bunch of small win32 programs that were prank related. Like one was a console session but whatever you type in it would spell out "format c:" and then it would "format" the hard drive . It had other pranks like error message programs and such. Most of this stuff was meant to shove in someone's startup folder or what not. Very basic programs.
On April 2nd I noticed my tripod site was out of bandwidth, then realized that program made it on sites like cnet news, msn's home page, CNN etc....
It reached about 60,000 downloads on download.com before tripod pulled the plug on my site. This probably happened in a few hours on april 1st from people searching for computer pranks to pull off.
This was way before I had my own real hosting and such so it came to a dead stop fairly quick but it was pretty cool to see my kit of programs become so popular for a few days.
