what is wrong with VPN client @XP? can't ping remote pc

Hay,
I am running a PPTP VPN server on a remote linux box. It ocupies 192.168.2.8.
I connect to it from a XP , fine. It dynamicly gets 192.168.2.5 but the gw appears as the same address.

1. why can't ping the server
