What is wrong with my router?

Hi I have had a Linksys WRT54G for a long time now, at least 3 years probably. I have never had problems with it, about 6 months ago I added encryption to the wireless just because I didn't want anyone stealing my internet. But I went to change something in the settings a while back, so I went to 192.168.1.1 and nothing came up, so I tried 192.168.0.1 because I thought maybe I just forgot what number it was. But that didn't work either, in firefox they both come up with: The server at 192.168.1.1 is taking too long to respond. Has anyone ever had this problem? Any suggestions what to do? I am not having any problems with internet, I just can't connect to the admin panel.

It sounds like you changed the IP address of the router from the default of 192.168.1.1. To find out what the router's IP address is, follow these steps:

Open a Command Prompt (Click on the Start button, then click on Run, and type cmd then click OK.

In the Command Prompt, type ipconfig and look for the IP address next to "Default Gateway". This is the address you should use to log in to your router's configuration page.

Wow that was really weird, I tried 192.168.1.1 didn't work so I did what you said, and next to default gateway it said 192.168.1.1 so I tried it again and it worked. Hmm not really sure why it works, but it works haha so thanks!

I have had problems with some routers' firmware pages not coming up in Firefox but they work in IE... go figure.
