What is wrong with my Laptops screen?

Okay I This thing started showing up right around X mas time on my LCD.
Around Xmas
About 2 days ago it moved up words some and now I can see through the bottom again.

Anyone know what that is?
I figure its a wire or something hitting the back of the display or something? I thought it was a bunch of dead pixels at first but it has moved and the bottom ones are working now...
Should I try to open it up and void the warranty and risk killing something or should I send it in for RMA?

if the system is still under warranty dont risk opening it get it repaired or RMA it.

Yeah I am gonna RMA it I was just seeing if anyone knew WTF it was. I have never seen anything like it before =(

Looks kinda like a wire that got itself between the LCD and the backlight..but I'm not even sure if thats possible...
