What is wrong with my GPU?!

My GPU specs:
Core Clock: 550MHz
Shader Clock: 1340MHz
Memory Clock: 900MHz

CPU-Z says:
Core Clock: 135MHz
Shader Clock: 270MHz
Memory Clock: 135MHz

When I run MSI Kombuster to benchmark.. it's only benchmarking what CPU-Z specs say instead of the supposed specs.. What's going on?! I can't play games like this :(

Might be necessary info:
CPU: Athlon II x4 630 at stock speed 2.8GHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA890-UD3H
GPU: GT240 DDR3 1gb (don't comment, it had a really good MIR)

I did not realize CPU-z would relay GPU info. Perhaps try the latest version of GPU-z? also what games at what detail and res are you trying to play, while not horrible a GT 240 isnt great either as a gaming card

Use MSI Afterburner to monitor your clocks when you run Kombustor. You should find they ramp up to their expected values.

Apparently CPU-Z does relay GPU clocks dynamically, I didn't realize it either until I opened it up again.

The card BIOS is designed to run at those speeds you listed from CPU-Z when it's idle, it should be throttling up when Kombustor or anything else that's intensive is using the GPU.

OP, the card goes into a low power mode when no 3D applications are being used, therefore, you are seeing the idle clocks. Which are not the same speed in which they will run when you play games.

I still don't understand why people are still using CPU-Z to check their GPUs...

I turned off cool n' quiet and my kombuster result received a huge boost :) and what should I use instead of CPU-Z?
