What is with the phrase "Do something about it"?

Earlier in the week I was on the Subway coming home and another passenger brings his dog on the T (T=Subway in Boston). Another passenger brings up that dogs aren't allowed on the T, except for dogs for the disabled or something like that. Regardless of whether he was correct or not the other passenger becomes extremely defensive and after about 3 exchanges challenges the other person to "Do something about it!" So I was just shocked at how randomly rude this person was, when there was a good chance he was in the wrong.

Then, just 20 minutes ago at the grocery store someone pulled the same line on me. I was waiting in one of the self checkout lines and this guy was having trouble with one of the other ones in another isle and when the person finishes in front of me he just scoots right in front of me. I address him and ask what he was doing, as I was inline. He says he was in line longer, in the other line ... something something ... "do something about it." I was completely shocked and caught off guard and backed off, and went over to his station where one of the attendants was voiding his order and was able to use that station within 30 seconds, payed for my things and went home.

Honestly WTF!!! What is with people? They do realize one day they will meet someone crazy enough to do something about it and that person will be in a world of hurt. God I hate people sometimes :|

Oh well, water under the bridge, time to make dinner

Wow. I hope that someone punts these people off of the subway car while it's moving.

Boston never was well known for it's hospitality, though... Even New Yorkers seem to be more friendly!

Complaining here won't help. Quit moaning and groaning and do something about it.

😛

thats pretty atypical. Ive been in boston for 6 years and never got that line. Some people are jerks, karma will bite them in the ass when someone decides to "do something about it".

Is Karma the name of your dog? Because dogs aren't allowed on the subway sir...

You really should have done something about it. He'll never learn if you don't teach him some manners. Physical confrontation would probably get you into trouble, but if you had just started scanning your items onto his order he would have been screwed.

..polite society is long gone. exaggerated sense of self importance is now the norm. it goes wit the tattoos..nose bolts and face piercings.
