Currently I am running 1.6A @ 2.1 GHZ with a Volcano 7+ HSF and am getting temps of 35/41 using a 1.5 Vcore (default). What is Vcore? If i turn it up higher, would i get lower temps or what would happen? Im a noob. thanks.😱

"vcore" is the operating voltage for the CPU itself. The more you increase the vcore, the more you can OC your chip, the hotter it will run, and the faster your CPU will "wear out". 1.7-1.75 are generally considered to be the max "safe" vcores.

thanx... runnin pretty steady rite now at 1.6a@2.1 ghz cuz i just ran prime95 for like the past 12 hours.. time to take it up a notch..🙂

Let us know how it goes. By the way, I recently lowered the vcore on my rig to help cool the cpu. It was running a little bit too hot on default.

well. runnin on default vcore gave up when i o/ced to 2.5 so i brought it up the vcore 1.6. well, fun while it lasted..so wats the highest my vcore should go? I have a p4b533 mobo and if u up the vcore, does it get hotter? thanks

According to THUGSROOK, if you're using the stock cooler you should go no higher than 1.7v, but you can go as high as 1.75 if you're got a good HSF.

Don't believe anyone else , vcore is the core of planet "V" in a far , distant and mysterious galaxy.
