I have a new samsung 19" crt 997df monitor. For some strange reason it has these faint horizontal lines visible when looking at a solid color, they only appear at the right and left sides, but it's like a "raking" effect.....I can see them on the whole screen in certain colors. Is this endemic to these monitors? Did I buy a dud? Who can recommend a GOOD 19 or 21 inch crt monitor for graphics and surfing and a few games that won't break my bank? the samsung 957df got great reviews, wouldn't this one be newer?

God knows why, but most people on this forum actually prefer AG CRTs. I've had some absolutely beautiful shadow mask ones, though, so have never seen a reason to put up with as visible a visual flaw as the damping wires when I have a choice about it. Some of the really big AG monitors actually have a third line going across, this one vertical, as well, gah!

you know what i dont think its those, i think its a moire pattern. this samsung seems to have a flat outer screen and then a normal crt screen underneath it, so it can call itself "flat screen" can a moire be caused by 2 screens like that?
