I change the icons on my desktop in the display properties and then I change their names, and everything is good. But if I log off or turn the computer off, the next time I logon the icons and their names are back to the stupid windows defaults. I'm using XP Pro, anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Are you sure you're not changing the names, or the little message box that appears when you place your mouse over it?

You are probably using a mandatory profile. If that is the case, you can make changes when you are logged on but they are not saved when you logoff.

This might help:
- Logon as user with administrator rights.
- Search for a file called "ntuser.man"
- Rename it to "ntuser.dat"

The changes you make will not revert to the defaults now. Tell me if this worked.
