What is up with intel's ZX chipset.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's just the memory thing. Check out the reply I gave you in the motherboards section. No kidding Intel loves castrating stuff... just look at the Celeron II.

found a couple of Abit ZM6 reviews. the memory limitation and 1 less bus mastered pci seems to be the only diff. otherwise identical to the BX performance-wise.

crippled BX chipset, it only supports 3 banks of SDRAM (each side) and no SMP support. Dunno about the busmastering thing. Not a bad chipset, but not great either.

yeah, i remember somthing about not being able to run another pci slot (weather at all, or just in bus master i don't recall)

Plester, you are correct, from what I remember it has support for one less bussmastered PCI slot and only takes and 3 single sided DIMMS (I believe). That is why I got a BX chipset board as I needed more than 256 Megs ram and have a lot of PCI cards.

Otherwise the ZX performs the same as the BX from all the reviews I have read.
