Hi All,
I just picked -up some memory for a friends PIII Slot one 500MHz computer, It is Kingston 256 UNB PC133. But if I put it in the computer it shows up as 128meg not 256meg. Could someone tell me what UNB stands for and why it does not work?
Thanks in advance:);):(:eek::disgust::D

UNB is probably short for unbuffered, simply means it's not registered memory.

The reason it probably doesn't work properly is it's likely high-density chips on the module. Older chipsets can't recognize high-density memory and can have unpredictable results (may not work at all, may not show all the memory).

You can use a memory selector tool on Kingston's site to select the motherboard he has and find out what modules will work, or use Crucial's. That makes it simple if you're not sure, or if you have a motherboard that is very old.
