What is this?

I'm getting these on some of my pics with a new camera. I don't see anything on the lens. It doesn't happen with every pic. Is this specular dust reflections or something else?

Looks like dirty spots on the lens, or the sensor. What type of camera do you have?

I've seen those a lot myself, but I only notice them when the image came from a point&shoot, with the flash right next to the lens. possibly dust particles right in front of the lens/flash?

But yeah...flare possibly.

If you can find a shot where you can reproduce it or see it in a viewfinder, you can shield the lens with your hand or piece of cardboard and see if they go away. If they do, it's an optics thing with light getting in and bouncing around inside the camera. If not, then it would seem to be a dust issue.

I am correct that if I am not seeing it in 'non-flash' shots and never out doors - it is just light bouncing around, correct?
