Hi, welcome to the last 10,000 years.

yeah i know...but am i the only one who thinks about what the NEXT 10,000 years is going to be like?

I only plan on living through the next 60 or 70 year so I'm really not concerned with the rest.

Honestly it doesn't really matter, we haven't even been around that long, chances are we'll find other planets to colonize and we'll just go from there. No matter how deep a hole we dig, we'll have technology to dig us out.

 and a  for technology!

ok, i see your point mo0o, makes sense.
lets try another subject: how much longer will America have as much power as it does now?
strength is in numbers coughchinaandindiacough, and then theres the fact that even the Roman empire only lasted for so long.
what do you guys think?
remember, im just asking for oppinions...i want to see other people's views

You just don't get it, do you scott?

It's like this one episode of Angel. This guy drops a bomb of a thought on Angel. He tells him he thinks he's been stopping the apocalypse time and time again, but the truth is it already hit a long time ago. And what's worse, instead of being a leader like he thinks he is, his letting people do whatever they want be themselves is just making it worse.

But guess what? Tell people they are bad and they'll show you just how bad they are. You can't fight it on a global scale. Like the saying goes. Individuals are smart and sane. People are stupid and crazy.

America will be around for a long time. Globalization has created a whole new dynamic in terms of countries and their power. Although i forsee all of north america becoming one union of somekind, just like asian. I think it's not outlandish to say there might be just 5 or 6 major countries or unions based on the continents although hopefully that'll change into 1. I'm all for globalization but theres always gonna be problems to deal with. Although i think as far as space exploration and colonization goes, going as a unified earth would be much better than going as individual countries.

that sounds like a really good idea to me. in history today i was looking at a map and thinking "there are so many friggin countries, i wonder what would happen if some of them united"
i seriously doubt globalization would work just because of all of the different religions/ideas etc under one ruler. i mean, AT cant even agree on one thing let alone the whole world :p :D

Know any empires that have survived yet? This one grew too fast, it's heading for a burnout real soon.

Well if the latest election didn't reinforce the thought, I don't know what will.

stop watching the news. the media overhypes everything.

i think its the other way around....our government really does censor quite alot.

... can I get some examples of what you think they censor? swearing and boobies are not a sign of mankind going downhill IMO.

America will survive long into the future because it evolves.

As to your "what is the world coming to" what are you concerned about? Yourself? Future generations?

Seriously mods, why not just unban me? I could do like many others and create an account fading into the background with no one the wiser. I would like to have my old name back though and I don't think a 2 month vacation much less a permaban was warranted by my statements. Enough with the knee-jerk PC reaction bs. Also why do you delete the threads after you were shown to be wrong via email?
Now, I wonder who this might be.

i really don't know how we can dig ourselves out of this hole; does anyone have any SERIOUSLY FEASABLE ideas/plans of action? just wondering
hope this dosnt turn into a giant flamewar, really there is nothing to argue about is there? its pretty obvious that things are starting to go downhill.

Probably we as a reace have had it too good and need to be challanged. In adversity we unite... In boredom we self mutilate for entertainment...

more self-centered pessimistic rambling. there have always been problems throughout history. sure we do have a lot of problems these days but we've also solved a lot of problems. personally i have faith in the human race. there are a lot of people who don't care about the future but there are also a lot who do and are trying to make things better.

Better for who? Themselves? How many generations in the future. The survival of the human race forever is simply not possible.

The sun explodes in ~ 5 billion years. Around that same time we collide with another galaxy. That is if we don't kill ourselves or suffer a relatavily common ELE. So we survive them all and live to see the freezing of the universe or beyond that the decay of all matter. Do you believe we will be able to create another universes and survive the creation of it? Tha future is set in stone.
