What is this weapon?

Picture of mystery weapon.

I've seen the navy use it, and definately ground forces. It shoots the same 40mm grenades the M203's shoot and does it machine gun style. Great for anti-armor operations. But the thing is, I can't remember what it's called. Anyone know?

Firing that is a hell of a lot more fun than firing the 50 cal everyone says they want. I'll take a belt fed automatic grenade launcher any day.

In battle, I'd take the 50 cal over the greanade launcher, simply because of it's longer effective range. If it's simply for fun, I'd go with the 40mm Grenade Launcher

If you were in battle, you wouldn't be given a 'choice', the weapons are task oriented. They have units whose task would favor the use of .50cal BMG and others whose task would favor the use of the MK19. These two weapons have very little overlapping utility.

That thing is rude. Only $13k and change to buy it and a solid firing rate. Definitely would kick some arse.

but would you rather have that new civic or go out and blow up tanks?

Duh! Blow up tanks, of course!

Why would you even bother to ask this question? 😛

No kidding I wouldn't have a choice if I was a soldier. I'm talking if I did have a choice.

No way man I'd pick both. Duct tape the .50 cal to the side of this so that they both aim at the same spot and tie the triggers together. Nothing would live!

the .50 cal is almost a hundred years old and still one of the most efficient calibres/weapons ever designed

The heavy machine gun had a single shot selector and with a night/telescope mount was able to be used as a crude sniper weapon 35 years ago up here.

Now the 50 calibre sniper rifles rule, excellent downrange ballastics and with modern materials and technology, able to be fired without a tripod.

Its the BX chipset of the military.

Grenade launchers are heavy, complicated and special purpose.
