What is this thing?

A guy here at work came to me and gave me this weird device, something someone gave to him and told him was very neat....
its basicly a small box, labeled mastercard, on two ends there are phoneplugs which you can pull out, and then a button to make them spin back in.

is this just a fanzy extension cord for phones or??

it may be an extension wire or it may be a box for blocking phone traces etc. have someone check it out if u know anyone that knows anyhting about phones

it doesnt seem to have any circuitry (the plastic is transparent), inside is just a spindle where the the wires wind up (cant see whats in the center because of the mastercard logo) and on the back is just a spring for the rewinding

Yeah, it's a phone cord. Exciting, huh?

oh yes, but I never thought anyone would go through this much trouble just to make a phone cord

...or just to make a post about it. 😀

hehe, I'm a little bit bored, and this was the only thing interesting that happened at work this morning 😛

It's good for the traveler. Take w/ your laptop. I purchased a manual winding one from od on clearance for a buck or so.

Still need to get one of those digital line testers one of these days... but since my company won't pay for it screw it. One time I'll fry the modem and then they'll wish they had... that's right... give me my geek toy or suffer the inevitable opportunity cost!
