What is this song...

I heard it on Oldies Radio. It's about being in love (sorry for being so detailed) but what I remember most was that a lot of it was synthesized. This guy would stay on a note and then it would turn "synthed" and go up and down a few notes.

Anyone know?

You're not being specific. There's a lot of songs out there the way you're describing it. Do you at least know the artist?

Is it Individual (i.e. Marvin Gaye) or a group?

Well there was one soloist but that's all I know about it. 🙁 Sorry. Just name some and I'll listen to them.

Well... You said it was an oldies station. They advertise themselves as an oldies station or are just assuming it's an oldies station because you're just a young whipper-snapper and don't know any of the songs on the station? 😛

A bit 'o both. 😉

okay..... so we've narrowed it down to a song between 1950 and 1995...
about love.. (that narrows it down a bit more... )
synthesizers (narrows it down to about 1 out of every 100 songs, if we're lucky)....

So, we're down to a quite a few thousand...
any more hints? even 2 consecutive words might do it.

edit: let's make it 1970 to present, due to synth.

use your sound recorder on the computer, humm it a bit, and post it somewhere.

Here are several possibilities... I did a search through my mp3's of titles with the word "love" in the title - narrowed it down to 477... I tried to narrow it down to synthesizer rich songs... got it down to about 20... and narrowed it down too those where the voice turns to synth (albeit a little bit)... h

Here's my best guess.

Haddaway - What is Love
-the last "what is love" in the song ends just that way.

But, I'm also guessing I'm wrong...
Most synth music is crappy (IMHO) therefore I don't have a lot.

Incidentally, anyone just want to get together and swap songs via hard drives?

Ok, lets try this:

was it a dance tune or some slow song?

did it sound modern?

What are the call letters of the station and where is it located?

Was it Paul McCartney? If you will download and listen to one of his songs, I think you will know if it is him.

When I think of "synthed" I think of the 80s for some reason. Just gonna throw a few songs at you.

Real Life - Send Me An Angel
Alphaville - Forever Young

All the suggestions posted so far would NEVER be heard on an Oldies station.

My guess would be either:

Peter Frampton - Show Me The Way
Peter Frampton - Baby, I Love Your Way

I would love to swap hard drives. I have a hankering for a new, empty 200GB baby just waiting for some new music to sample.

Ooh... I didn't think of Peter Frampton because his voice isn't really synthed. It's going through his guitar. But I bet that's the song.

OP: Can we please get some word if we've actually found the song? I want to be sure that my popular musical knowledge doesn't go to waste. 🙂
