What is this screw used for?

I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but...

What is this screw used for? I got a bunch of these with my computer case.

They screw into the case backpanel, then you put the mainboard onto them and scew that on.

That is a brass "set-off". It screws into the holes under your
MB. Then you screw the MB into them. It sets the MB off from the
metal plate of the case............

Actually it's called a &quot;stand-off&quot;

I've heard them called setoffs, standoffs, anchors, plastic thingys...

I hate the plastic ones. I like my mobo secured tightly. I especially hate it when you try to install something, like a card or ram and the board bends down... all you need to hear is *SNAP* and it's all over
