There's a Windows component that is asking for access to the net and was wondering what it does exactly. ZoneAlarm has it listed as "Services and Controller app" and the file is services.exe.

It's located in C:\WINNT\system32

I always say "no" but just curious whether or not I need to allow this to have access to the net.

its a generic windows process. don't worry about it. if it doesnt hamper anything to tell it no, then keep telling it no, or tell it to remember.

Actually put "Yes"... when I didn't know what it was and I put "No, it wouldn't let me access some internet based games like Counter-Strike.

Isn't zonealarm not a very good firewall program? I would suggest blackICE defender. I don't really know much about firewalls but I have been using blackICE for a few months now and it seems to be better than zonealarm to me.
