What is this "Office Startup" program?

It's sitting in my Startup group in Win2k, it's from Office 97. What does it do? It doesn't seem to have actually started any Office programs.

It's there so you can right-click on it and hit "delete"

i believe it does nothing .... i always delete that thing after i'm done installing office (97, 2000)
so go ahead and move that thing out ...

edit: went to mskb, it says the startup is there to improve performance (faster loading, etc)

i personally say it's there to use up resources and put junks you won't be using into memory, just like msie is started with windows, etc ....

but i think i like jfunk's answer better ...
